CANVAS QUALITY

Canvas quality is, for obvious reasons, the foundation of a good canvas photo print when it comes to printing onto canvas. Not all canvasses are the same. We use a Lyve Canvas that sets a new standard of exceptionalism in photographic printing. It is a 450gsm canvas, bright white and it is a poly-cotton matte blend that allows us to capture the subtle nuances (every jot and tittle, so to speak) in photographic images. This particular canvas is acid free and it has no optical brightner additives in it either (Great news for all of us as optical brighteners yellow over time. The process used is called "Chroma White". It gives the most stable printable canvas on which to print photographs and artwork and this canvas has no colour shift problems that may often be found in other printable canvasses. In short - this allows you to add to a canvas collection without others fading with age.

CANVAS PRINT & INK QUALITY

Here at Fine Art Printing we use HP Viveira pigment inks. This particular range of inks delivers the best photo permanence. HP claim that these inks can resist fading for upto 200 years. So we're happy to say that we've yet to experience a faded canvas print! The exceptional colour accuracy of these inks result in realistic, life like colours with deep, rich hues. The inks are made to be water resistant and especially durable as we've mentioned. That means that we deliver printed canvasses that have great handling ability and with the correct care, will last phenomenally well. Read our finishing section to see the extra care we put in to ensure you are buying quality canvas prints.

CANVAS FRAMING QUALITY

Every photo we print onto canvas is stretched onto a custom cut frame made from kiln dried New Zealand pine. Kiln dried pine is first routed into a 32mm deep section with a leading edge bevel to ensure minimum contact between frame and canvas. Sections of frame are first hand cut to size using a morso guillotine then joined using a professional frame underpinner. The end result is a high quality custom canvas product where we fit the frame to your photo, not the other way around.

CANVAS FINISHING QUALITY

So if you've read though the previous three sections then you'll know that we don't skimp on our printed canvas products! To top it all off, we use a non-yellowing print varnish called "Timeless". An appropriate name don't you think? This print varnish has been developed to protect, preserve and enhance our canvas prints. It has strong UV protection and has a crystal-clear finish. What's more is that it has anti-fungal elements in it that are essential for high humidity environments like ours. Once sprayed onto the surface of a canvas print it enhances the print and increases the resistance to scuffing and image fading. The combination of all these factors allows us to deliver a fine quality canvas print that we are proud to send into the world.
